Broken Inspiration
October 26th, 2007 by Monika
Do you sometimes feel like you have no inspiration at all, You know, putting things into action in something we pursue, regardless what it is?
I have, last week I really struggled with my inspiration in blogging. Not ideas, but inspiration. I simply felt like I had nothing to share of worthy with you, so there were days where I didn’t blog, mainly due to this reason.
A couple of factors strip my inspiration when it comes to blogging.
One is when I’m pressed for time. Be it due to a deadline, or having to go to work in the offline work, I really hate those times and they influence my creativity in a negative way. My husband keeps saying to me to not fret about it and just get on. But to be honest I do fret about these things as they are om·ni·pres·ent in the back of my mind.
No matter how hard I try to forget about it, I always end up thinking about it more. It’s called the law of attraction! The more we think about something, the more we attract it by magnetic (energy) definition. So by trying to forget certain responsibilities it makes me want to think about them even more.
This is a vicious circle where we can get trapped in without ever realizing it.
But don’t worry, there is a way out of this:
When you struggle for inspiration you have a few options that might help you get back on track.
Switch off your computer
Watch a soap opera
Go for a walk/run
Pick up the phone and talk to a friend (don’t mention your frustration, rather listen to whet they have to say instead)
Play with your pets, if you don’t have one, offer to take a friends dog for a walk
Put some groovy music on and turn up the volume - and sing to your hearts content as if you are auditioning for the next round of idol
Dance like a banshee
Open a bottle of wine and enjoy with some relaxing chill out sound
Read a book
Go to your favorite coffee shop and indulge into some gossip magazines while sipping away your latte and watching the world go by.
:arrow:Get crafty - dig out all your craft supplies and get painting, scrap booking, etc.
You can always browse Blogging Web 2.0 for inspiration too.
Visit a relative
Play tourist in your home town. Pretend you have never been before in the city of your residence. Visit the local tourism office and pretend you are a first time visitor.
Throw pebbles into the ocean, lake, river
Play Lego, hide and seek etc. with kids. Go back to your childhood and totally let go.
Go for a picnic to the park, beach, verandah, living room floor.
There you have it, a list of ideas on getting away from your computer or whatever other thing you struggle with at the time. You will come back with a renewed sense of inspiration and a ton of ideas.
Enjoy

Great post Monika! I often find myself very low on inspiration when trying to update my many blogs and websites, and do all the other seemingly endless online business tasks each day. This post has some great ideas for helping me clear my mind to get back on track.

Yep I found ya… now you’ll never get rid of me! Haha
Yes, Monika is a great writer. I visit a couple of her blogs and she has a lot of great topics and somehow finds new things to talk about all the time.
By the way Monika… I don’t know if you have visited the WhyDoWork forum in a while but you should have a PM from me waiting for you there.

You guys just made me blush. Thank you for the compliments, they are certainly well received.
As for the forum Trent, no I haven’t. But I will get to it ASAP. Thanks for letting me know. I have been rather slack with my forum promotions as of late. It will have to go back onto my daily method of operation.
