3 Tips for Becoming a Successful Blogger
December 8th, 2009 by trentb
It’s no secret that blogging is a great way to make money online. You can blog to help market your main online home based business or you can become a professional business blogger and make money directly from your blogging efforts. The choice is yours but if you want to be more successful with your blog then there are a few things you need to make sure you do. In this post I am going to give you 3 tips to help you become a successful blogger.
1) Write Valuable Posts
You always want to provide a lot of value to your readers in every post you write. You want to give people a reason to read your blog and to continue coming back to it and you can’t do that with crappy content. This may seem very obvious to you but you’d be surprised at how many bloggers fail to actually do it. So, if you want your blogging business to be successful you need to provide value by either entertaining or educating your readers.
2) Write for Your Target Audience
Not only do you have to provide great value to your readers, you also need to write for your target audience. This means knowing who your target audience is and what they are interested in. This tip is very important for being a successful blogger because you don’t want to just be randomly writing about topics that nobody who visits your blog are interested in. You also want to think about how they would talk and think, and what kind of readers they might be. Then incorporate all of that information into every blog post you write.
3) Write Great Post Titles
Another tip for becoming a successful blogger is to write great titles for your posts. You want them to hook the readers and force them read the post whether they really want to or not. If your headlines don’t attract people then your blog won’t get read and will never become successful. So make sure you write titles that are catchy, informative and make people read your blog.
If you follow the 3 tips above then you will have a much better chance at becoming a successful blogger.

Blogging Could be Your Ticket to Financial Freedom
May 29th, 2009 by trentb
It’s no secret that blogging is big right now, actually it’s HUGE! It seems like everyone and their dog has a blog. Thousands of blogs are created every day, and more “bloggers” are hitting it big all the time. Some of the reasons blogging is so big is that people naturally love them, they are easy to update, it’s easier to get links to them, they tend to rank higher in search engines, and you can make money blogging without needing to learn a lot of technical stuff.
Many people even trust information on blogs more than they do the popular news sites. There was a study done recently that showed a large percentage of people would rather get their news and information from blogs than from other sources. The idea is that most sources are far from biased anyway, so if you’re going to get information, you might as well get it from a blog that fits with your world view.
People looking for solutions to problems they have such as how to make money, debt cures, dog training, business tips, various illnesses, travel advice, and just about everything else often turn to blogs for information because they give a personal view point from the blogger. They are a “been there, done that” type of thing.
Because of the real feel of blog, they can also be a great way to sell stuff online. It’s a very natural progression from reading about someone’s experiences with acne on an “acne blog” to buying an affiliate product with acne cures from that same blog.
One huge advantage that blogs have over “real” work is that you can work from home, or anywhere else you choose. Successful bloggers can also make a lot of money. Many professional bloggers earn at least $100,000 up to over $500,000 or more per year while traveling the world, or just sitting at their home computer.
The average American spends $2,500 every year on gas commuting to work. Plus automobile accidents are one of the most frequent causes of death in the United States. Not to mention the wasted time sitting in a car while commuting to and from work. Bloggers can work from home and avoid having to commute, which is a big advantage.
Stress can be a major factor in the average person’s life, but having a blog that is making money for you without you needing to leave your house or listen to a boss can massively reduce stress. Not only can you make more money than you earn working for someone else, but your stress level would be much less.
This “blogger lifestyle” sounds too good to be true but it really does exist, and there are a lot of people taking advantage of it. You can too!
All you have to do is learn how to make money blogging, set up your blog, put in the time and effort it takes to start seeing a good income and your future will look a lot brighter. Building up a money making blog isn’t the easiest thing in the world and it will require a lot of work, but it’s more than worth it in the end!
So, where do you learn how to blog? How can you create this make money online lifestyle for yourself? There are countless blogs and resources online that will teach you. In fact, you are reading one right now. You can also do some searching on Google for “how to make money online” or “make money blogging” and you’ll find several resources in a matter of minutes.

The Fastest Way to Make Money from Your Blog
January 21st, 2009 by trentb
If you are reading this then I will assume you are looking for ways to make money blogging. You probably started your blog with high hopes and dreams of making lots of money from it but so far that hasn’t happened and chances are it never will. However, there is one way you can quickly and easily make money from your blog. And the best part is that you can do this again and again with as many blogs as you want to keep making money!
So, what is the fastest way to make money from your blog?
The simple answer is to sell it. Blog flipping is one of the most popular ways to make money online right now and you can easily start flipping blogs for quick cash if you want to.
I know that selling a blog you have put a lot of time into might seem stupid but if you aren’t making any money from it or if you aren’t making as much as you hoped at this point, then selling it for a lump sum of cash can be a wise decision.
You can keep building (or buying) and selling blogs to make money online as often as you want. Blogging isn’t going anywhere and there will always be more people coming online looking to buy a blog that has already been built for them, so blog flipping as a way to make money will be here for a long time.
If your blog isn’t making the money you thought it would, head over to flippa.com and do your first blog flip right now.

Making Money Blogging Basics for Beginners
December 4th, 2008 by trentb
There are thousands of people who are making money blogging right now and new blogs are being started all the time. You can make money blogging and it’s not as hard as you may think. I will admit, it’s not the easiest thing in the world but anyone can do it if they are willing to put in the time and effort.
The first thing to remember if you are started a new blog is to stay away from the “Make Money Online” (MMO) niche. It is very hard to make money blogging in the MMO niche. There are many reasons for that but I won’t go into them right now. Just take my word for it.
There are thousands of easier niches you can tap in to and make money blogging about them. All you have to do is use a free keyword tool and do a little research. Start with things you are interested in or know a lot about, and go from there. You should be able to find a good niche pretty quickly. The more it gets searched for the better. However, volume of searches is not the only thing you need to take into consideration. You are looking for niches that have a fairly large market with money they are willing to spend, and not a lot of competition.
You can find the first one with the Google Keyword Tool. It will tell you the approximate monthly search volume for any keyword phrase and how strong the advertiser competition is. If there is a lot of advertiser competition then it’s usually a good indicator that the niche has profit potential.
Then, you need to see how much competition there is for that keyword phrase. An easy way to do that is to go to Google and search for it in quotes. The results will come up with sites that are using that exact phrase on their sites. You can see that number in the top right corner of the search results page. You do want some competition but not a lot.
Once you find a good niche then all you have to do is set up your blog and start blogging. Wordpress and Blogger are popular blogging platforms that are free and very easy to use. After you get some blog posts written and published you should start getting inbound links. This can be done through article marketing, link exchanges, dofollow blog commenting, buying links, directories, social bookmarking, forums and many other ways.
Updating your blog often with quality content and getting a lot of keyword anchored inbound links will increase your search engine rankings and start bringing in a lot of traffic to your blog. Once you have the traffic you can put up some affiliate links, do paid reviews, sell advertising or any of the other methods there are for making money from a blog.
That’s pretty much all there is to making money blogging. Of course, this post is a very summed up and simplified guide for how you can make money blogging for free. But it is the basics of how you do it. Use my tips as a guide and do some searching for a more in-depth explanation of anything you don’t understand. You could have your niche picked and blog set up in a matter of hours, and be making money from it very soon.

Blogging with the Trends
October 29th, 2008 by trentb
Sometimes it’s hard to find a good topic for a new blog post and you need a little help. One way to do that is to take a look at Google Hot Trends and see what the hot topics of the day are. You can usually find at least one trend to fit with most niches so there’s a good chance you will be able to find something that will work for your blog.
This can also be a great way to get a nice boost in traffic. If you blog about a hot topic and your blog has enough authority to get posts indexed quickly and rank well then you stand a good chance of getting thousands of new visitors who are searching for that topic.
Going for the hottest topics on the list probably won’t do much for you because they will have already been picked up by the huge authority sites that you don’t have a chance at competing against. However, if you pick a topic somewhere in the middle to end of the hot trends you might just reap the rewards.
As I said above, there’s usually enough of a range of topics that you should be able to find a trend that is at least somewhat relevant to your blogs niche. You should choose a term that is as closely related to your niche as possible. You could also just start a general information blog and make all of your posts based on any hot trends that interest you on a daily basis.
Use Google Trends to your advantage to help you find topics to blog about and possibly bring in huge surges of traffic to your blog.

Blog, Blog, Blog, All Day Long…
September 11th, 2008 by trentb
…Blog, Blog, Blog while I sing this song… I’m gonna write this post, I’m gonna publish it online… Then I’ll start another but I don’t know why!
Does that pretty much sum up your daily blogging habits? Are you one of those bloggers who thinks you need to constantly update your blog as much as humanly possible? If so, I want you to sit back in your chair right now and really think about why you feel the need to write 10 blog posts every day even if you really don’t have anything to say.
Contrary to what you may have been told before, there really is no need to update your blog numerous times per day. In fact, you don’t even need to update your blog once per day! It is much better to write a couple long, informative, useful posts per week than it is to write a bunch of worthless posts every day just for the sake of doing it.
Just think about how much less stressful your life would be if you weren’t constantly thinking about how you need to write a new blog post or trying to think of something to say. Write higher quality posts less often and you will actually be doing yourself and your readers a favor. Heck you will probably even gain more readers by doing this.
Remember quality is always better than quantity!

How to Make Money Online, Not!
August 31st, 2008 by Terry
Everyone wants to know how to make money online and most people like to write about it in their blogs even though they don’t actually make money online themselves. Then there are those people brand new to all of this who want to know how to make money online for beginners. Of course, there are many ways to to go about learning how to make money online, but most of them will fail.
So this is a post about how to make money online, NOT!
First of all, go read all the so-called A-lister’s blogs, you know the ones, like John Chow, Yaro, Shoemoney, Problogger, Gary Conn, etc and learn everything they have to teach you about building a great Make Money Online blog and attracting thousands of feed readers and social traffic from Stumbleupon, Digg and Twitter etc, then put up a load of ads so all those visitors will click on them and you’ll make a ton of money.
Well with high expectations and the promise of all that money falling out of the sky into your lap you get started in earnest. Check out all the eBooks in the sidebars of the A-list gurus because they’re sure to show you even more great secrets on how to make money online that you may have missed and keep reading the top people’s blogs for more great info.
Then stumble on some foul mouthed Puerto Rican in an ugly looking blog called BloggerUnleashed who tells you that everything you’ve just learned is crap. But you should ignore him because he uses the F word a little too often and what can he know about how to make money online anyway? Why he had the audacity to call your best mate Gary Conn a scammer. And he takes the piss out of John Chow all the time. Sheesh, what does he know! Hell, write a post in your blog and call out that lying SOB. You could even challenge him to a contest to see who can really generate the most traffic. Why I bet you could easily take ten grand off him for getting more Google traffic to your great up and coming soon to be A-list blog! Be a cinch!
And look at the dross of society that hang out with him!
Some Canadian who calls himself Grizzly or something and he’s supposed to teach you how to make money with a crappy looking free blogger blog? Come on, these people must be so stupid to take any notice of an obvious liar like that hahaha.
And then there’s some guy who looks like a funny parrot who writes a reviews blog and another one who wants to show you how to make money online the “Honest Way”. I ask you, who in their right mind would trust someone who blatantly called themselves honest?
So you get back to your feed building and get ever more social traffic to your great MMO blog. Hey, you aren’t seeing a lot of clicks on all those great looking ads you have in your sidebar yet, but the gurus promise that it will come in time, so you redouble your efforts and post comments in ever more social blogs and make ever more friends in MyBlogLog and BlogCatalog and spend a good three or four hours a day messaging them all because its so important to keep them interested in you and your MMO blog.
Then after you’ve been doing that for like two years and the bank are just about to foreclose on your mortgage, your spouse is packing their bags to leave you for good and you’re credit cards are all maxed out because you bought every eBook you could get your hands on and signed up for every mentoring school by all the best gurus to show you how to make a thousand dollars a day… face it, you’re broke and you failed.
What can you possibly do to turn things around?
You barely made enough in all that time from all those ads to cover the cost of your hosting. Oh, wait a minute, no you didn’t… your premium MMO blog doesn’t seem to be displaying in your browser any more. I guess your hosting company didn’t get their last monthly payment from your now empty PayPal account.
It looks like there’s only one thing left to do
Go and get a JOB!
…
…Six months later…
You’re on Google and you happen to search on “Make Money Online” and of the 10 million or so competing pages, right there at the top is that crappy free blogger blog by that Grizzly guy. No, surely… he can’t possibly be…
