Google Page Rank is Here - Updated Today!

There will be a multitude of blog posts today about Google Page Rank once again. But this time it is all in the good spirit of things. At least we hope so. On the premises that it sounds like something we heard before I had to make this posts, simply out of excitement. I guess Terry is still asleep and for once being in Australia in a different time zone has its merits.

I was basically able to watch how the different Data Centers progressed with the PR updates. I spent all morning doing some checks on many blogs and websites comparing data to their actual PR on their site. I had it all figured out in terms of finally knowing for sure what PR gets assigned to which site until…

Google actually rolled out a huge update while I was doing my research. Blogging Web 2.0 has managed to snatch a Page Rank of 2 in 40 days of blogging. I am understandably very excited about this and I’m sure that Terry will be too, once he rises in sunny Spain.

image I realize it’s early days yet, but this clearly shows that Terry and I are on the right track. It certainly puts a huge grin onto my face.

So, before you forget, go to your own site and let us know how Google Page Rank affected you. Was it good, bad or better than good? I look forward to hear from you all.

One of my freely hosted blogs kept its PR (2). Another one now has a PR of 2 (used to be 2, then turned to that grey thing, and now recovered from its fall). A self-hosted blog who used to rank 0 now only get the grey bar. More comments will be posted on my main blog… or maybe I should post them here, as a new article. Hm… I don’t know what to do. Will decide later.

All my old websites have been obliterated - RIP old friends - all down to 1. sniff.

My neglected blogs mostly stayed the same or fell slightly.

My new and well maintained blogs are all up several points in the 3 - 5 range and my most cherished possession kept it’s 7 - this was the one I was worried about as I use it to spread link love to everything else. whew!

My only fear is that Google isn’t done yet. Some strange things happening as I’m sure you are aware that lots of the big guns who were slapped recently seem to be recovering and Adsense is a bit askew lately - not sure if this is related. Has anybody else noticed this.

Oh… and is Terry missing all the fun again?

Seems like he does. He must be busy with other stuff at the moment. I’m sure Terry will be here to comment in due time. :-)

I imagine that some of your sites went down as you (Grizzly) mentioned they were old. Does that mean you didn’t post to them anymore? If yes, I guess that’s why. Funny enough my husband’s blog also jumped to a 3 and he hardly posts. Maybe twice a week max. Where else I post 5 times a week.
So might have to rethink that often is good strategy. It is certainly interesting to see and makes one speculate what is going on exactly.
PR 7 is fantastic man! Is that in the IM niche or a non related one?

Karen, are you working yet on your new domain? I look forward to see it, once you go live. :-)

Yes the new Google PR update has the IM world in a frenzy! Some are loving it, some are hating it, some don’t really care either way… but EVERYONE is talking about it.

I had some positive and some negative come out of the update so I guess I am neutral on it right now.

Two of my main blogs were lowered, one was raised. One of my main websites was lowered, two were raised.

Most of my mini niche sites and blogs stayed about the same with only a few exceptions.

Overall, my total PR from all sites was higher before the update so I guess it did affect me more negatively as a whole. But I really don’t care because in the grand scheme of things PR doesn’t matter much at all. It’s just a number that doesn’t have much relevance like it used to.

I’m here :-) present and correct.

And I did miss some of the fun but not all of it! My main site went from PR0 to PR3 as well, but the shock was my two fairly new Make Money blogs both also went from PR0 to PR3! They’re not even 3 months old and have nowhere near as much content or link juice as my Honest Way site. So while I’m really happy, I don’t understand the whys - bit then I’m not alone!

All my other self hosted sites/blogs got a promotion, and my forum got a PR2 - but get this - a bunch of my older Squidoo lenses got PR3 as well! Now that’s nice, because they give all my sites lots of links!

My free blogs all stayed at the bottom of the pile, but that was expected as I don’t update them more than once a week each. I’m still creating more free blogs to nick some dollars in some strange niches and I’m finding some very unusual yet well searched on keywords for these. It’s funny what turns up!

Congrats to everyone who made up some ground on this - and while PR may not be so important, it certainly gave me a lot of grunt with PayPerPost - from one or two measly offerings before to two pages of the things now! When those other two blogs come of age next month, that’ll treble the amount of paid reviews I’ll be doing which will make my PayPal account as happy as me…

    Terry :-)

“Karen, are you working yet on your new domain? I look forward to see it, once you go live.”

Oh, Monika… I feel like crying whenever I think about it. You don’t know what I’ve been going through due to some evil web hosting companies. :(

I do have a blog hosted on a domain that is (almost) ready to be promoted. But that wasn’t the domain I wanted to focus on. I’ll have to use it as a sort of emergency solution, until I manage to solve my endless web hosting issues.

    Sorry for the off-topic comment.

Karen: Don’t worry I started the “off topic” my apologies on that. I sent you an email regarding this. I might be able to help?

Terry: It is interesting that your Squidoo lenses polished up so well. I haven’t even checked mine yet. Just forgot I guess. This could be a potential bonus for you once the next update comes as they might help to bump you up.

    I guess time will tell.

Trent: I think there is some truth in certain ways, in what you said about the fact that PR mattered more in the older days, but then it might still matter as much for advertising placements.

Monika, thank you very much for your email. I’ve just replied it. :)

Terry, I’d read that Squidoo had been slapped by Google. From what you’ve said I assume the lenses have been “forgiven” in the course of this PR update. ;-)

    Well…my forum went up from a PR0 to a PR2 :)

Both my blogs went up in PR. Both my WAH sites stayed the same. All in all, it’s pretty good! :D

A lot of really high PR sites have come way down…can’t imagine why?

  10. Make Money Online | David Elefant (1 comments.) on October 31st, 2007 8:30 am

I have a few sites on some the PR went down on others up.

Why is Pr important? Until now to sell links and paid postings. Ad brokers will now have to change their criteria in deciding how much to pay for ads.

Not all sites that had high PR sold TLA or had paid postings!

Traffic is the most important way to monetize a site as long as it is targeted.
