Monika says: “We can all have success.” Do you agree with her?

On her previous post Imagine Success Was Already Yours, Monika stated that we should “focus on the fact that we can all have success.” In fact, the whole article was built around this concept.

Do you agree with Monika?

Although that wasn’t the first motivational post I’ve read in my life (far from it), I confess I couldn’t stay indifferent to it. I just had to write this follow up.

Why?

Because I’ve had enough of articles warning me not to get into this or that market, for “it is crowded, saturated and you wouldn’t stand a chance against your competitors.” This is especially true when it comes to Internet marketing and meta-blogging: many authors will try to prove they are your “friends” by telling you to stay away from the topics that have made them successful.

I believe some of those advisers are sincere. They really think their niches are saturated and you’d better put your effort into something else.

But others seem to be much more worried about themselves. The message their articles convey sounds like this: “Read my stuff, click on my affiliate links, buy my products, but absolutely do not dare to compete against me!” Not to mention those boastful guys and girls who insinuate that “I am great; you are not and will never be.”

Now let’s get back to Monika’s sentence:

“Focus on the fact that we can all have success.

How do you feel about it? Let me put it differently: how do you feel about the contrast between her encouraging words and the skeptical/cynical/greedy points of view cited above?

Join in this debate by leaving your comments. :)

Hehe…looks like nobody gives a rats bum what I said. :-)

I think what holds a lot of people back from thinking positive is their lack of self believe. This is something that is attained through entrepreneurship and a real hot passion of wanting to make a difference.

If the person isn’t ready to make this shift in perception, then we “who saw the light” can ramble on as much as we want about positive thinking.

Can I say good post, or would this mean I’m up myself? ;-)

*sighs* Where are Terry, Grizzly, Trent? And other people who’ve been commenting here lately, like Heather and Lin?

“Can I say good post, or would this mean I’m up myself?”

Yeah, you can say good post and I’ll take it as a compliment. My ego needs to be fed. :-p And of course you’re up yourself. If you don’t support your own ideas, who else would do it? ;)

    LOL Karen,

I just love your humor, you should take up stand up comedy if blogging doesn’t work out.

Not that it wouldn’t, just kidding. Not sure where everybody is. Maybe they have all goooooone on vacation. :-)

Awww… so nice to be missed!!!

You gals sound a bit lonely so I thought I would wade in - your fault Karen as you baited me.

A quick update on the “boys”

Terry is busy scheming at the moment and Trent has spent the better part of his time setting a new comment record over at Blogging Zoom. Ha.

I, on the other hand did read your posts but thought I would let someone else start off.

I suppose it’s obvious but I don’t shy away from any niche - the more competitive the better. Competition means there is money to be made. I feel very strongly that saturated niches are prime targets simply because most of the top sites can be overcome by better content and better SEO. I don’t think I am “Great” nor am I over confident - I just rely on my experience and to date I have reached the top of every niche I have set my sites on - competitive or not.

Granted I am not to the top of the “make money online” niche - yet, but 10 months ago I wasn’t even in the niche. I now rank on the top 3 pages in Google for every keyword in the niche. There are 100 million to 400 million competitors depending on the keyword - few niches are as competitive. It can be done.

I am not bragging - I’ll do that when I hit top spot ha - just trying to illustrate that no niche is set in stone and anybody can usurp the mainstays if you have a plan, stick to it and above all - ignore the naysayers.

Just look at what Court and Caroline Middlebrook have accomplished in a really short period of time. These two will likely eclipse the johnchows in the not to distant future.

This is my usual long winded way of saying that Monika is absolutely right - we can all have success. No doubt in my mind.

That goes for my “Rats Bum” too!

Alright I’m off to see what kind of trouble Terry is getting himself into…

    Scheming? Moi?

Perish the thought! Actually I’ve been hovering around today and I did comment in here yesterday so it’s not that I’ve gone anywhere…

It’s funny that over the last few days I’ve been posting highly motivational articles in some of my own blogs - one of them even got me a couple of email responses which I’ve never had before. It’s a real boost to the old confidence!

I know I’ve been saturating my Honest Way blog with the odd paid review since I got the PR hike, but I’m still countering each one with a “real” post so as not to lose the reader momentum.

I’ve already exceeded my 400 a day target for the month on daily average viewers and it’s still climbing despite the horrible, amoral, evil, wicked, unethical… (you get the picture) paid reviews! Maybe its those very same paid reviews that are attracting more (new) traffic!

    Ha!

That’d be a thigh slappingly good wheeze!

By the way, that was a really good post Karen I enjoyed reading it! I agree very much with Monika that we can have success and lots of it.

    It’s all about your mindset.

When you throw out all the negative mental programming you’ve had throughout your life up until this point and re-program yourself for positivity and success, then you suddenly find the things that you previously found difficult to do get easier and you start finding solutions to problems that hed you back. It also brings other positive, successful people into your life so that you all encourage each other to newer, greater heights.

Hang on, this lot could be a post on its own - its starting to get long…

Time to go use this flurry of creative writing to make some damn money!

    hehe

    Terry ;-)

  6. Grizzly (31 comments.) Says:

Totally off topic but I thought I would mention that it looks like PPP sites are starting to get hammered - how widespread I don’t know but a few people are mentioning this in Andy Beards blog and a few other posts - check BZ. Sounds like a few sites have been reduced to PR0.

Just thought Terry might be interested or know more about it.

  7. Terry (82 comments.) Says:

    Thank Grizz,

It still doesn’t make sense. I was already a PPP site when they gave me the PR0-3 raise, and there were plenty of paid reviews there already. It could be that the site got the raise because it grew naturally without resorting to any paid links or even link directories. And it’s absolutely chocked full of relevant unique content, which is exactly what the big G wants tro see.

I wonder about the other paid review sites like Smorty et al. They don’t require a post disclosure that it’s a review, so maybe that’s a different kettle of fish for G to fry?

I’ll read Andy’s post and come back

    Terry

  8. Terry (82 comments.) Says:

After reading Andy’s post, I’m still none the wiser.

I’ve already been screwed by G once, how dare they try and take another piece of me!

Ha! Maybe I’ll change gender, call myself Paris and post a saucy pic of some young model on my blogs and fleece all the hot blooded young males that come to help the maiden in distress…

…either that or it’s back to flogging articles on Constant Content - not such a bad deal, just not what I really want to be doing!

Oh well, its back to all those cheesy free blogs and see if I can raise a smile from Bidvertiser…

    :-(

  9. Monika (79 comments.) Says:

    Gee,

    What’s happening. I’m in shock!

Seriously though guys, your post length comments are rather interesting. Especially the mention of Andy beard’s post. Have to admit I have yet to read this.

It is all confusing to say the least and I hope for Terry that you don’t get fried. Anyway, Grizzly makes perfect sense with what he says and it will be interesting to see what will happen.

For us lot, if we keep doing what we do, we will all be very successful and I shall drink to that right now - cheers. :-)

  10. Grizzly (31 comments.) Says:

Oh man… I haven’t had my morning coffee yet and Monika is drinking already - these times zones are a bugger!

I have wondered Terry if you might not have already been penalized by Google - the possibility exists that you would have been a PR4 or 5 and took a -1 or -2 penalty in the update.

This is of course hard to know but is one of the explanations floating around trying to explain why all paid link sites haven’t been treated the same.

Ok my coffee is done, Monika put down the beer and go to bed and Terry and I will talk about you while you sleep… hehe

  11. Monika (79 comments.) Says:

    LOL Grizzly,

Good idea in theory anyway. (The talking bit)

  12. Terry (82 comments.) Says:

I was thinking along ther same lines Grizz. My site is pretty big now and there are a lot of pages of content in there and a lotta backlinks from high PR sites limke ezine articles etc. What if they were about to give me a 4 or 5 and did hold that back?

One wonders, especially as my two Make Money blogs which are much younger, with far fewer backlinks and content also got PR3?

Will they be hit soon as they’re now taking paid reviews too? Maybe.

But what else did I create them for in the first place? To take paid reviews and make money! Let’s face it, they will be NFG at taking revenue from the adsense-like clone I’m lumbered with. As for affiliate sales, they’re in a tough niche.

My mode of thinking at the moment is to hammer the hell out of them and see what happens, because it’ll happen in the next few days if it’s going to at all. At least I’ll know for sure and will only have lost 3 months (that’s all they’ve been alive for). I still have my other blogs and lenses - and all those free cheesey blogs!

    …maybe I wasn’t entirely joking about calling myself Paris…

    :-) :-) ;-)
