3 Ways to Boost Your Confidence

confidence

When we have confidence it can be a great aphrodisiac to help us feel on top of the game. After all what better feeling could we have as entrepreneurs than feeling strong, on top of the game and able to take on anything that crosses our path.

The feeling of euphoria releases endorphins in the body which in turn turn us on. In this case not sexually, but rather by giving us a huge confidence boost.

Wikipedia says the following about euphoria: Euphoria (emotion), a state of very intense happiness and feelings of well-being

Confidence is essential if we are to become successful in life. But what many people don’t know is that confidence is a by-product of things going right. When we are on a “winning streak”, everything else seems to fall into place and we feel very confident.

On the opposite if we are having a crappy day, then things go from bad to worse and our confidence levels diminish. This is also more predominant when we are new at something.

Once we become proficient at what we do, regardless of whether we have a good day or a bad one, our confidence is till strong.

We have simply learned in the meantime to accept the fact that not every day can be a fantastic day - it’s part of life.

3 Ways to Boost Your Confidence

  1. One of the best ways to boost confidence is having the experience. This is harder for beginners since they are just starting out. Even then they can take pro-active steps to become confident by working at gaining the experience.
  2. Offer your help to other less experienced people in the same industry. You’d be surprised at the confidence boost you will receive by being able to help others.
  3. Meditation is a great way to boost confidence. With the help of positive affirmation, meditating on your state of confidence will give you belief into yourself because you learn to recognize the warrior within.

Knowing your strength and limitations will help you to discover your confidence levels and arm you with enough confidence to take the world by storm.

How to Get More Subscribers to Your Blogs RSS Feed

As bloggers one thing we all have in common is that we want more subscribers to our RSS feeds. There are plenty of ways to increase the amount of subscribers to your blog but many people just don’t know how to do it. Below I have given some simple and very effective strategies to help you gain more feed readers.

* Write great content - This should go without saying but there are still plenty of people out there who think all they need to do is post anything on their blog and they will bring in subscribers. Nobody will want to subscribe to your blog unless your posts are informative and quality enough for them to want to keep updated on what you have to say. You must also post frequently enough to keep them subscribed.

* Ask visitors to subscribe - Usually when we want somebody to do something in our daily lives offline we simply ask them to do it. Well there is no reason why you can do that online as well. Put a little note under each of your posts asking them to subscribe if they haven’t already done so.

* Make it simple to subscribe - I’ve many seen many blogs without any visible way for visitors to subscribe or if they do have one it’s not easy to find. Your feed subscribe button should be in a prominent place on every page of your blog and very easy for anyone to find.

* Write extra posts just for them - One great way to get more blog feed subscribers is to write posts that only your subscribers can read. It makes it more special for them because they are getting bonus information that nobody else gets. Make it well known that you do this for your subscribers so more people will want to subscribe.

* Put your feed URL in blog comments - This is something I have just started doing recently and it works very well. When you visit other blogs and make comments on their posts you are usually able to put a link to your site. However, most blogs have nofollow tags on the link so it doesn’t help you any with your inbound link count. So instead of putting a link to your blog put in the URL to your feed. When people click it they will be more likely to subscribe simply because you have already taken them that far.

* Contests - Holding a contest in one of the fastest ways to increase your blog subscribers. All you have to do is give away money or prizes, or anything of value to your readers. You will have ways to enter the contest and one way to enter should be to subscribe to your feed. You can even give subscribers extra entries as further incentive to subscribe.

* Do/don’t display your reader numbers - Displaying your feed count can help increase your subscribers but only if you already have enough subscribers to make them want to join the crowd. If you have at least 100 subscribers then do show your count. If have less than 100 subscribers do not show your count.

Alright, now you have some very effective ways to get more subscribers to your blogs RSS feed. It all starts with great content and regular posting, and goes from there. Put these strategies into practice starting today and you will have a growing amount of blog subscribers almost immediately.

On Site SEO

On Site SEO tips are always useful, as much here at Blogging Web 2.0 as anywhere else, especially when you’re not making any waves in the SERPs, but more like small ripples that don’t even make it to the other side of your pond. In Monika’s last post How I Managed to Land on Google’s Page 1 in 1 Week, where she got her new site to page one of Google, she describes how clever use of on site SEO helped to put her there - now I’m going to elaborate on this technique a little here while giving this site a little keyword boost in the process!

While the majority of what will get you high in the SERPs is all off-site SEO in the form of link building, which of course is all-important if you want your site to rank for certain keywords, you can also be getting busy with some strong on site SEO that is simple to do and effective in pushing your site up those search engine pages.

On Site SEO

On site SEO consists of many techniques but one that is easy to do is to choose the keywords you want to rank for and promote the hell out of them. Do that by placing them frequently in your content. This SEO technique works very well in blogs, as the content is constantly changing and being added to, so it’s a simple task to add keywords to on site SEO every new post you make.

I’ve done this on site SEO myself with incredible results with two of my “make money” blogs. One of them (which is only PR3) is on Google’s page one for a long tail keyword that gets a good 11,000 searches a month - well worth being there for. The other hovers around the 20 mark for the same keyword, but its only PR0!

So how am I beating off literally hundreds of thousands of other sites to get onto page one with a lowly PR3 site that is only a subdomain at that?

I’ve been using this simple on site SEO technique of liberally spreading the keyword I want to rank for throughout each new post, but more than that, I’ve used the keyword in the title as well as tagging it. But to increase the keyword authority, I’ve also been going back through older posts and adding some more instances of the keyword in posts that are relevant to the keyword to further boost the site’s keyword authority. Then I simply link to the post from another of my blogs with the keyword in the anchor text to give it keyword authority.

You might have noticed that in this particular post, I’m using the phrase on site SEO quite a lot. Well, that’s what this post is going to rank for - on site SEO! The use of some h3 tags also goes some way to helping the cause!

Why not just SEO?

Aha, there’s the trick. You work on a long tail keyword first and get that into a strong position in the serps. So you should expect to see this post get ranked for on site SEO in the next day or so. Then you make further posts (or go back and update older posts) on the main keyword SEO and over time (it all takes time) the site will begin to climb for the main keyword SEO.

Of course to go up against a lot of stiff competition (which SEO is probably one of the stiffest) your site will need to attract a lot of quality back-links with SEO in the anchor text before it will rank for that keyword. But it can be done.

So in the mean-time, I’ll settle for on site SEO and see where we can go from there!

How I Managed to Land on Google’s Page 1 in 1 Week

Posted on January 22, 2008

Not kidding, I’m currently sitting on number one page of Google for my new local news niche blog the Yeppoon Chronicle. To do this I followed through with what I have learned since being online and mainly for the last 2 month from Blogger Unleashed, Vic Franqui’s blog about make money online.

I knew about the concept of using highly targeted keywords which will help with the ranking. The blog got indexed within 38 minutes and if you don’t believe me you are welcome to read my post on how I got a brand new blog indexed in 38 minutes.

The concept I used for this was all thanks to Vic and his unlimited pot of knowledge and to prove all nay sayers wrong, the proof is in the pudding as they say.

To get on the front page of Google was achieved by applying basic SEO rules when writing blog posts and descriptions. The one thing that will go against my carefully grafted blog is the domain name since it is brand new.

Because I hail from a very small place (to USA standards) of Australia, the chances of finding a pre-owned domain with my town’s name in it were next to none. A quick search on Tdnam quickly revealed that my initial thoughts were right.

So buying a new domain will eventually throw me into the sandbox which means I’ll disappear from Google for a while. The secret to staying there is getting enough incoming back links that will cement my position. But as some of us know, this process is a lengthy one which will take time.

Couple this with great SEO and you will have a winner.

If you know how, it really isn’t that hard to do. The hardest part of the whole equation is to stay at it until…

Until next time..

Are We Turning Readers Away?

Posted on January 21, 2008
Filed Under Blogging | Leave a Comment

Probably the biggest worry for any blogger would be to see his blog being mainly comment free. It is disheartening after all that hard work to see our blog devoid of any comment love by fellow bloggers and nobody likes to feel abandoned.

But what can we actually do to attract more comments and why don’t we get them in the first place?

I sometimes wondered why certain blog posts attracted a stream of comments and others simply didn’t? Did I suddenly fail to make contact with my readers?

I’m afraid the answer in those cases would be: Yes

comment-or-not

Many factors play into the flow of writing a blog post that reads fluently enough and animates our readers to give their point of view at the end.

Sometimes regardless of what we do, there is simply no action and this could also be down to not having sufficient traffic. But what if we do have traffic and still nothing happens?

Here is what I found helps me to get better conversions:

  1. If I write posts that are informative and helpful I normally get tons of comments
  2. I also noticed that when I write from a more personal perspective my readers are much more responsive to me and are likely to comment more frequently.
  3. Interaction with my readers has always been a must for me. This means I pretty much answer every comment I receive. (Admittedly I do miss some for whatever reasons).
  4. Asking questions always helps. Most people do like to talk about themselves if given the chance and they will hop onto your comment thread if you ask them open ended questions.
  5. Easy navigation: if the blog is too cluttered or the posts are not attractive to the eye then nobody will stay long enough to even bother commenting.

Alternatively we might turn readers away from commenting:

  1. By not replying to your readers comments
  2. Being rude to them
  3. Being too authoritative (bossy)
  4. Closing the post with a command without inviting our readers to comment.
  5. Distracting them with plenty of ads
  6. Blog is slow/not attractive/hard to navigate

Are you happy with your comment numbers? Do you get enough comments on your blog or would you rather have more? What do you think we can do to have you comment more often on this blog? Please do let us know, your opinion matters to us.

The Rush For Local Niches

Posted on January 19, 2008

At present we just about all scramble to get our individual local niches off the ground. Being able to serve our local neighbourhood is not only a great way to snatch our very own piece of earth real estate on the world wide web, but it will also make us the talk of the town before we know it.

local niches

Another advantage of going local is the fact that we already know so many people and places, so it makes perfect sense to blog about it. Even our friend Grizzly has found some fishes to entertain in the Canadian woods. So if he can do it, forget your excuse and start niche blogging.

In the last 3 days I’ve been very busy getting my own local niche blog off the ground, besides everything else I do. I also know for a fact that Terry will be working his butt of over the weekend as he takes ownership of his new domain today! We probably won’t see him stick his head through the door for a couple of days now.

Can’t blame the guy since he is on a mission.

We all are and have already built a great support network of fellow niche bloggers. But it isn’t too late yet for you. If you truly want to make a difference in your online marketing efforts this year, then I believe a local niche blog is a must in your arsenal of weapons.

Keep your eyes posted, as there will be more to come.

Blogging Web 2.0 New Year - New Look

Posted on January 17, 2008
Filed Under Important News | 7 Comments

Ok, finally I have managed to steal some time out of my rather busy days and deal with this blog. I do apologize to you our readers and also to our guest bloggers since I have been very slack posting here and even making an appearance.

new start

Without boring you with excuses lets just say a few things had to be sorted elsewhere. So thank you for staying with us. It is surprising to see that our subscriptions have gone up during this period which is great.

Terry and I decided a while back to change this blogs theme and all though we looked at CopyBlogger and Keyword Sniper I decided today that the second theme actually looked better than CopyBlogger. It is simply a cleaner look and I’m very happy with the transformation.

There will be some possible re-arrangements in the next week or so to tweak a little more, but I think overall this is a very nice on the eye look. No more clutter and easy to navigate.

However, if you are trying to use the RSS button right now, it doesn’t work since I’m having trouble with the code. Maybe Terry will be able to sort this out, so please just keep checking back.
