Blogging Web 2.0 Stats For November 2007

Posted on December 1, 2007
Filed Under Monthly Overview | 3 Comments

This blog started out in September this year and considering it is still young it is growing just nicely. This is due to the top writers who blog with us here and credit belongs to all of them. Both Terry and myself are excited about the high caliber of quality shown and we know that this blog will go from strength to strength over the coming month.

The month of November has been great for traffic once again. We have now officially topped the quarter of a million hits 2.5 month into being and that is partially due to one of my posts track your time being picked up by Life Hack, one of the biggest blogs online.

This has resulted in more than 320 visitors from Life Hack since they featured my post. This just goes to show what can happen when a big blog picks up your post.

Currently this blog gets an average of about 267 visitors/day and 8576 hits/day. As you can see, we have gone from 85,770 hits in October to over a quarter of a million hits one month later!

As far as income is concerned, we managed to make a couple of dollars once again.

Scratchback: $ 2.95

Clickbank: $ 0

Amazon: $ 0

Google Adwords: $ 3.78

Widget Bucks: $ 0 (I’m not counting the $25 sign up bonus until I get paid for it)

Total income November 2007 = $ 6.73

As for the guest blogger who took Novembers $30 home for writing the most entries, congratulations are on order again for Karen Zara. She did it again with a cheeky home run in the last minutes of the month toppling Trent by 1 post.

Well done Karen, I’ll PayPal the money to you as before.

Thanks to all of you who make this blog happen and taking shape and here is to a great end of year! (It started great already with a whopper Google day!)

And if it wasn’t for our readers, we wouldn’t be here in the first place, so thank you to all of you.

Blogging Web 2.0 Stats for October 2007

I apologize for the late post of these stats. Usually I’m trying to get them done a little earlier into the new month, but other work has kept me away from doing this so far.

Last month, October 2007 was the first full month of Blogging Web 2.0’s operation and the site is looking promising so far.

Thanks to both Terry’s and my own hard work we have managed to build up a database of great resources. Also our first active guest blogger Karen Zara has not only managed to score $30 for posting the most posts, she was actually the only one who bothered. But this month it already looks like we have two new contenders for the cash and therefore I have decided to put the money up again.

Back in September we managed to get a nice amount of visitors to the site after only 2 weeks. This traffic has now leveled out a bit and hasn’t increased in terms of doubling on those figures. Despite this, I think the overall figures are impressive and with nearly 200 actual visitors to the blog every day we can’t really complain much.

As you can see on the below graph, we received just over 85000 hits to the site last month. If we compare this with the month before and the actual amount of visitors by day, we can clearly see that the overall quality of visitors is even better now with higher conversion.

As for monetization, we also made a few dollars. The following are what we use to generate some form of income from this site.

Clickbank = no sales

Amazon = no sales

Google Adwords = $5.79

Not bad for a site in its second month really. It is both Terry’s and my wish to share our revenue with our top contributors. But first the revenue needs to cover the hosting cost, and then make some more money to give enough for all involved.

We haven’t really come up with a system that is fair for all involved, so I’m happy to take suggestions. I can see that we might have to split earnings in term of participation per percentage and that only those who contributed a certain amount of posts can be included in this revenue split.

As far as competition money goes, at present I pay this out of my own earnings because I want to. Anyway, the future will tell and I’m sure Terry and myself can come up with a great plan that benefits all involved.

If you have any suggestions, critique, complaints or questions, then you are always welcome to contact us via the contact page.

As for now, I would like to thank all of you who visit regularly for making this site an emerging social hub.

Blogging Stats Addict

I freely admit it, I have become a blogging stats addict. When I first started out blogging I never bothered to check where my traffic came from. In hindsight this was a mistake as by knowing what promotion activity works we can gain a much better understanding on where to invest more time to make it all worth wile.

are-you-on-track.jpgI don’t spend any money on promoting either of my blogs. All the promotion is done with free methods and because they are free, they do require a bit more time. So when I invest time I generally like to know, whether it was done justified, or whether I wasted valuable time. What I normally do is to visit my Cpanel admin and check where the traffic came from?

Was it search engines that referred people to my blogs, or else …? Doing this has given me a valuable insight into what seems to work and what not. This in turn allows me to spend time where it is advisable and generate more traffic building activities.

By being a blogging stats addict I have control in the way I’m spending my time doing what works. I use Awstats in Cpanel as well as Google Analytics. There is a host of additional free stats trackers available for free and if you happen to use one yourself, let us know how it is working for you.

Cheers
