Why Are Spammers So Stupid?

Well, this might stir up a bit of a blogging hornet’s nest but then so it should. Here at Blogging Web 2.0 we’ve come to the conclusion that 99% of spammers are stupid and that’s official!

Why are spammers so stupid?

Because they have just been gifted a golden opportunity to promote their sites with all the newly promoted blogs with improved page ranks. All they have to do is write some relevant and interesting comments for the latest posts in the many “do follow” blogs and make sure their site is not seen to be a porn or hate site and they will get lots of valuable back-links to boost the promotion prospects of their sites.

So what do they do?

They spam a load of useless crap comments to all my blogs (and lots of other people’s blogs too) which get trapped by spam filters or moderation and get deleted. Guess what? Not a drop of link juice for their efforts.

How can these people be so unbelievably stupid?

An intelligent spammer has the chance here to completely wipe the floor with 99.9% of all these stupid spammers. I’ll even tell them how to do it!

Simple.

Set up a legitimate website and put enough genuine content on its home page or better still make it a blog, so that it will pass a cursory inspection. Then set up its second level pages which will sell all the stuff that spammers like to sell – you know what I’m talking about.

Then get busy making intelligent comments in other people’s blogs. The links to your homepage will not flag any spam alerts so you’re links will pass through the moderators system and you’re home and dry. Get enough of these links and your site will get a boost in the next page rank shake-up.

How hard is that?

Will any spammers take any notice of this?

Of course not, because they don’t read anyone else’s articles, because they’re too busy being stupid! Too busy posting crap comments that no one will ever read and that will never generate a back-link to their crap websites.

And a total annoyance to us legit bloggers who have to waste our time deleting all their irritatingly stupid and irrelevant comments from our moderation page.

Maybe they are really so stupid to think that we’ll approve these comments?

Fat chance!

Sometimes it really helps to rant, I know exactly how you feel Terry, but I’m afraid it’s like fighting a loosing battle.
I suppose I just grin and bear it with a pinch of salt.

Why are spammers so stupid? Easy: if they weren’t stupid, they wouldn’t be spammers.

The problem about this post is that your tips are so good that now I feel tempted to become an “intelligent spammer” myself. LoL!

Wow that’s actually quite genius! It would definitely put a new spin on blog spamming.

And you’re right spammers are stupid! I’ve always said if they spent half the energy on a legitimate business as they do on all their crap then a lot of them would probably be rich.

Fighting spammers is definitely a losing battle. They are always there to spam your email, blog, forum, article directory… anything they can. You can get rid of one but there are ten more to take his place. It drives me insane!
